Van Arme B.B.
Van Arme B.B. ("Of poor B.B.") is a cabaret-style Afrikaans production, a biographical overview of Bertolt Brecht's life and his works, compiled, developed and directed by Johann van Heerden from the original German works of Bertolt Brecht and based on Brecht on Brecht by George Tabori.
Translations of songs from the original German by Johann van Heerden and some songs translated by Hennie Aucamp.
1986: First performed in 1986 in the H.B. Thom Theatre with students from the Stellenbosch University Drama Department; Casper de Vries, Christien Coetzee, Duncan Johnson, Johannes Lochner, Linda Pienaar, Illse Roos, Anine Trümpelman, Jozua van der Lugt and Kowie-Marie le Roux Kriek on piano. Décor by Dickie Geldenhuys, lighting by Emile Aucamp and costumes by Elaine Aucamp.
The title is taken from Brecht's 1922 German poem of the same name (Vom armen B.B.).
