Kunst en Vlyt
Kunst en Vlyt (1870-1871) was a breakaway group from the Cape Town amateur theatre company Door Yver Bloeit de Kunst
The break came because of internal strife in the parent company in 1870, and was later followed by further desertions by a number of members. Kunst en Vlyt only lasted about two years.
The company apparently performed in the Loyal St George Lodge Hall on the corner of Loop and Hout streets, Cape Town and the Royal Lyceum Theatre .
Their performances included: Het Testament, of De Geheimen van Udolpho (Radcliffe), Vier Schildwachhten op Eenen Post (Vogel), Storb en Werner, of De Gevolgen van een Tweegevecht (Bonel and Boirie), De Deserteur (Von Kotzebue), Siegfried van Hohenwart (Westerman) and De Nachtwacht (Körner).
