The term Die road trip has been have been used for the titles of a number of songs, videos, plays and films over the years in titles such as Road Trip, A Road Trip, Die Roadtrip , The Road Trip and so on.

A number of such works have been created and/or performed in South Africa.

The original text

Written in 2017, this is an Afrikaans radio drama, a thriller about two women driving through the Karoo to escape their personal issues. It was recorded and broadcast by Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) in 2018. Directed by Frieda van den Heever with Charlton George, Roeline Daneel, Cintaine Schutte, Geon Nel and Chris Madjiedt, with technical assistance from Cassi Lowers.

A satirical Afrikaans stage comedy about the travails and revelations that arise when two friends, Jaco and Belarus, take a road from Cape Town to Johannesburg to "get away from everything".

2019: First performed in the Drostdy Teater, Stellenbosch from to 3 March during the Stellenbosch Woordfees by Stercus Produksies, directed by Gaerin Hauptfleisch, with Brendon Daniels and Waldemar Schultz. Set and lighting by Gaerin Hauptfleisch.

2019 Performed in the ATKV Griesselsaal at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (23rd-27th March) in Oudtshoorn

2019 Performed in the St Peters School at the Inniebos Laeveld Nasionale Kunstefees on 26, 28 and 29 June. Venue:
