Biography
Born and raised in Krugersdorp. Married to Dulcie van den Bergh, and father of Regardt van den Bergh. *
Youth
Training
He studied at the University of Pretoria.
Career
He was a young member of the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society(??*). His exceptional talent noticed early (by inter alia Anna Neethling-Pohl and Hermien Dommisse), the society raised funds through benefit performances to send him for further study at the University of Pretoria. There he became a member of the Volksteater in Pretoria. In 1944 he was retained by Pierre De Wet as a professional actor. With the founding of NTO in 1947, he worked for them.

Productions include Dagbreek (Wynand Du Preez, 1941), Monna Vanna (Maeterlink, 1942), A Month in the Country, Pinkie (1944), Die Goeie Oue Tyd (1944), Altyd my Liefste (1947/8), Nag het die Wind Gebring (1948/49), Minnaar onder die Wapen (Arms and the Man, 1949), Die Indringer (The Outsider, 1949),?*], Bitter Einde (1955).
Starred in numerous films, including Jy's Lieflik Vanaand, Die Vlugteling, Hans die Skipper (alongside André Huguenet), Pinkie se Erfenis (Pierre de Wet, 1946), Simon Beyers (Pierre de Wet, 19**), Seven against the Sun.
His radio work over the years included Agamemnon (1944).
