Sylvia

Sylvia is the title of what may be two plays by South African authors. However, they are most probably referring to the same play - a work originally written by Ian Ferguson in the late 1970s and performed in the same period, then again performed by Lydia Pienaar in 1987.

Sylvia by Lydia Pienaar

The original text

A one-woman piece about the life and work of Sylvia Plath, compiled from her writings in September 1987. A typed copy of the text is held in the Drama Department archive at the University of Stellenbosch.

First performed (probably by Lydia Pienaar) in the Drama Department, Stellenbosch University, directed by Johann van Heerden in 1987.
