Blood and Glory is a bilingual (Afrikaans and English) film by Sean Else

Known as Modder en Bloed ("mud and blood") in Afrikaans.

The English title also written Blood & Glory in some cases.

The film

Set in 1901, it is a film about a group of Boer the prisoners of war, who - led by Willem Morkel, a Cape rebel - find dignity and solidarity in a rugby match played while held in the British prisoner-of-war camp on the island of Saint Helena at the end of the Second Boer War.

Co-produced by Dark Matter Studios and Collective Dream Films, the film was written and directed by Sean Else, produced by Llewelynn Greeff and Henk Pretorius, with cinematography by Adam Joshua Bentel, edited by Quinn Lubbe and music by Quinn Lubbe.

The cast included Stian Bam (as "Morkel"), Charlotte Salt, Grant Swanby, Patrick Connolly, Albert Maritz, Michael Richard, Bok van Blerk, Altus Theart, Jacques Bessenger, Edwin van der Walt, Gustav Gerdener, Rudy Halgryn, Albert Pretorius, Jaco Muller, David Louw, Nick Cornwall, Marno van der Merwe, Josh Myers, Deon Lotz, De Klerk Oelofse, Francios Coertze, Benedikt SebastianJonathan Holby, Jandre le Roux, Greg Kriek, Clyde Berning, Paul Snodgrass, Carla Else and Andrew Lopescher.

The film was released on 1 April 2016 in South Africa by Ster Kinekor.
