Biography
He studied at the University of Stellenbosch.
Married to Gay Morris for many years.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
As a student he had a role in Miss Los Istrata (1972). Roles in UTS productions include Die Kaukasiese Krytsirkel (1973), The Fall and Redemption of Man (1973), Ses Personasies op soek na 'n Skrywer, as Die Vader (1974),Die Wintersprokie as Camillo, (1974), Die Keiser as Hendrik IV, (1983), August August, August (1987).
Chris acted in a number of CAPAB productions such as Drie Susters (as Claassens, 1976), Die Nag van Legio (1976), Othello (1977), Roulette as Police (1977), Die Paddas (1977), The Bear, Hups in die Hydro (1990).
According to Michael Venables Truter portrays Bartolomeu Dias with insight, humour and compassion in the 1988 stage production of N.P. van Wyk Louw’s epic poem Dias.
He was one of the characters in Hippo performed at the National Arts Festival in 1995.
Directed two productions of Die Asjaspassie.
In 1994 he was one of the judges for the Amstel Playwright of the Year Award.
He is the creator of the Cape theatre company The Kasteel Players who presented street theatre in Cape Town and Bellville.
