Lt Col Dennis (17**-18*) was a member of the British garrison in Cape Town, and an amateur actor and sometimes a "director" for the Garrison Players.
He and Lt Prescott, are listed as the "Directors" for the first two performances in 1811, i.e. Lovers' Vows and Raising the Wind (27 July); and The Rivals and The Mock Doctor, or The Dumb Lady Cur'd (17 August). Presumably he was also one of the players in some or all of these and following pieces.
