The funds raised were far more than was required, so a fund (the Helpmekaar Fonds) was established to invest in educational and cultural needs of the Afrikaners.
Through this fund the Helpmekaar Vereniging became the patron of the Christian youth society called Die Christelike Jongeliedenvereniging (or CJV) in 1917, supporting them and their activities, among which were regular Afrikaans theatre productions.
