Helpmekaar Vereniging
(Lit: "The Help Each Other Society", or "Mutual Support Society"). An Afrikaans-Dutch cultural society founded in 1914 when funds had to be raised after the 1914 rebellion, to help the defeated rebels and **. The funds raised were far more than was required, so a fund (the Helpmekaar Fonds) was established to invest in educational and cultural needs of the Afrikaners.
Through this fund the Helpmekaar Vereniging became the patron of the Christian youth society called Die Christelike Jongeliedenvereniging (or CJV) in 1917, supporting them and their activities, among which were regular Afrikaans theatre productions.
