Went to school at Grey College, Bloemfontein, studied at the University of Cape Town and later became a teacher and Associate Professor there. Also studied at York University Toronto.
Career
He became a teacher and Associate Professor at UCT.

Won the Rosalie van der Gucht Prize for New Directors in 1989 and went on to become a successful director of student and professional work in Cape Town. Productions as director include:
