The Archon is a rock musical by two Greek composers. An original rock musical about an extraterrestial being who comes to earth to bring peace.
Performance history in South Africa
Premiéred internationally by PACT and directed by Geoffrey Sutherland at the Johannesburg Civic in 1979. The cast included Ian Henderson, Rosandra Chapman, Cathy Cota, Michael de Pinna, Johan Engelbrecht, Mo McColl, Tim Plewman, Etienne Puren, Claire Robins and Lynsey Shmukler. They used up an immense technical budget. Besides protests about its theme from certain Christian communities, it also failed as a production and lost PACT a great deal of money.
