Translations and adaptations
Adapted into French as Le Mari Ermite by Jean François Boursault-Malherbe, and presented for tnhe first time at Le Théâtre des Variétés Étrangères on 12 January, 1807 and published by Antoine-Augustyn Renouard in the same year.
Translated from the French version into Dutch by Cornelis van der Vijver as De Echtgenoot Kluizenaar ("the husband hermit"), published in Amsterdam by J. S. van Esveldt-Holtrop, 1809.
Translated into English by an unknown author as The Confession and published 1820.
Performance history in South Africa
1824: Performed in Dutch as De Echtgenoot Kluizenaar by Tot Nut en Vermaak on 28 August in the African Theatre, with De Verkeerde Schaamte (Von Kotzebue) as afterpiece.
