Die Verliefde Indringer ("Amorous Intruder") is an Afrikaans translation of play, variously ascribed to a number of authors.
Provenance of the text
Produced in Afrikaans by Paul de Groot in 1932, advertised by him as a play by Dario Niccodemi. However, the Cape Argus refers to it as a translation of G.B. Shaw's Mrs Warren's Profession (which seems very unlikely). Later the name was apparently changed to Die Oorwinnaar ("The Conqueror") for the national tour.
In another twist, a list of productions by Paul de Groot provided in the somewhat inaccurate Filma (Kultuur) January 1946, Verliefde Indringer is ascribed to French playwright Paul Géraldy (1885-1983)[1].
See also Mrs Warren's Profession and Die Oorwinnaar.
South African performances
1932: Produced in Afrikaans by Paul de Groot under this title in Potchefstroom. Then (according to Binge, 1969: p. 181) taken on tour as Die Oorwinnaar ("The Conqueror"), De Groot performing with Yvonne de Morlay.
