A Phoenix too Frequent (1936) is a comedy by English poet and playwright Christopher Fry (1907-2005) [1].

Performance history in South Africa
19**: Fred Engelen directed a play-reading of A Phoenix too Frequent for the CAPAB Library Players, with Val Donald (Dynamene), Anne Porter (Doto) and Fitz Morley (Tegeus-Chromis), which was performed in libraries across the Cape Province, as far as the Eastern Cape.
1965: Produced by Joan Greyvenstein for University Theatre Stellenbosch in the Botha Hall in 1965, starring Sarita Minnaar, Sjoukje Strydom and Piers Nicholson.
1968: Directed by Joan Brickhill and Louis Burke for the Tavern Theatre, Pretoria, opening 2 December 1968. Cast: Sybil Ferguson, Maureen McAllister, Louis Burke.
1972: In 1972 it ran as a lunch-hour presentation at The Space (Cape Town), directed by Robin Malan. The cast consisted of Yvonne Bryceland, Val Donald and Christopher Prophet, with Alastair Johnstone as stage manager and lighting designer.
1977: Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival [P.E.S.F.] starring Helen Wilkins, Jean Young.
