Les Jardiniers ("The gardeners") is a musical comedy[1] in two acts by Bertin Davesne (fl. 1765-1774)[2] with music by M. Prudent.

The original text
First performed in Paris by the Comédiens Italiens Ordinaires du Roi, on 15 July 1771 and shown at court in 16 December 1771. Published in Paris at La Veuve Allouel, Quay des Gévres in 1772.

Performance history in South Africa
1803: Performed in the African Theatre by the French Company under the leadership of C.M. Villet on Saturday 13 August with Toinon et Toinette (Desboulmiers and Gossec), Le Tableau Parlant (Anseaume), and Le Tonnelier (Audinot).
