La Cagnotte is a comedy in five acts by French dramatist Eugène Labiche (1815-1888) [1], first performed in Paris in the Théâtre du Palais-Royal on 22 February 1864.

Performance history in South Africa
1980: Die Geldpot was directed by Dieter Reible for a collaboration between PACOFS and CAPAB. Design was by Raimond Schoop and lighting by Brian Evans. The play opened at the Civic Theatre in Bloemfontein on 20 November 1980 and at the Nico Malan Theatre in Cape Town on 12 December 1980. The cast were Cobus Rossouw, Johan Malherbe, Willem de la Querra, Nico Liebenberg, David van der Merwe, Roelf Laubscher, Antoinette Kellermann, Roelien Spruyt, Henry Mylne, Christo Potgieter, Neels Coetzee, Paul Lückhoff, Mitzi Booysen and Lida Meiring.
