Performance history in South Africa

1969-1972: It played at the Adam Leslie Theatre between late 1969 and 1972, becoming the longest running show in the history of South Africa theatre up till then. The show also toured the country later in this period, having been granted rights for performances by Proscenium Productions (founded by Hal Orlandini and Gordon Mulholland).

1970: According to an undated Hair Hair programme notes it was produced by Adam Leslie Theatrical Productions, directed by Gordon Wales and Adam Leslie. The cast included Joan Blake, Charles Vernon, Gordon Wales, Jeanette James, Joanna Palmer, Claire Robins, Dawn Schroeter, Shirley Brown, Michael O'Dare and Shirley Shearman.

1972: Presented by Proscenium Productions in association with CAPAB Drama at an unknown Cape Town theatre, starring Jo Jo Maugham, Audrey Harding, Hal Orlandini, Maryann Johnston, Gordon Mulholland, Basil Petersen, Lynnette Bell, Christine Hudson, Jo Jo Maugham, Brucie Eales and Sid van der Byl. The stage director was Basil Petersen, assistant stage manager Lynnette Bell, choreographer Gordon Wales, ballet mistress Dawn Schroeter and special costume designs Marjorie Hudson.
