Pale Natives is a full-length play by Paul Slabolepszy (1948-).

Original text

The play focuses on the surviving clan of white males in South Africa, with South Africa’s imminent changeover of government in 1994 as a backdrop.

The play received the FNB VITA Theatre Award, (Cape) for Best New Script 1994.

Performance history in South Africa

1994: Premièred at the Market Theatre (a co-production with Pale Productions), directed by Bobby Heaney, with Tim Plewman, Paul Slabolepszy, Bill Flynn and Danny Keogh 17 January. The production moved to the Baxter Theatre (April 1994) and returned to The Market Theatre for another run from 18 May to 9 July 1994. Set design by Lindy Roberts, lighting design by Mannie Manim, costume co-ordinator Sue Steele, stage manager Royden Paynter. The production won several Best Actor, Best Play and Best Production awards.
