Tons of Money is a farce by British playwrights Will Evans (1873-1931) [1] and Valentine (1876–1961) [2].

Translated into Afrikaans as Wie is Wie? by Hendrik Hanekom and Willem van Zyl.

Translated into Afrikaans as Sakke Vol Geld ("Bags of money") by Leonie Pienaar.

Performance history in South Africa

1931: Wie is Wie? taken on tour by the Hanekom-Van Zyl-geselskap, with Hendrik Hanekom and James Norval in the leading roles.

1941: Tons of Money was produced at an unknown venue according to press reports and theatre programme held by NELM [Collection: LISTER, Moira]: 2007. 20. 6. 1.

1947: Sakke Vol Geld, the Leonie Pienaar Afrikaans translation was staged by K.A.T. in March 1947, directed by Pienaar.

1984: Staged by PACT, directed by Michael McCabe, with Andrew Buckland (Aubrey), Annelisa Weiland (Louise), Norman Coombes (Sprules), Carol-Ann Kelleher (Simpson), Lynne White (Miss Benita), Graham Weir or Nicky Rebelo (Giles), Anthony James (James), Kate Edwards (Jean), Graham Hopkins (Henery) and Kevin Smith (George).
