The original text

Based on the life and career of Paul the Apostle, but with a highly controversial twist in which Jesus is shown as having survived the Crucifixion and his appearance to Paul on the way to Damascus as a real encounter arranged by Mary Magdalene and Peter, not a celestial vision.

First performed in modern dress, directed by Howard Davies and played in the Cottesloe auditorium of the National Theatre, London from 30 September 2005 – 4 February 2006.

Translated into Afrikaans as Paulus by Henry Mylne and Hugo Taljaard

Performance history in South Africa

2007: Paulus performed in Afrikaans at the KKNK national festival, directed by Henry Mylne with himself, Lizz Meiring, Blaise Koch, Tertius Meintjes, Theodore Jantjies and Deon Coetzee in the cast. Also in 2008 at the KKNK with Johan Engelbrecht, Deon Coetzee, Lizz Meiring, Blaise Koch, Andre Odendaal and Henry Mylne.
