The original text
A conceptual work, the play looks at the powerplay within a family and loved ones, couched as a "dinner for two"
Power was developed by Bouwer, working with Dutch and South African students for a rehearsal period of three weeks in terms of a special exchange arrangement between the Dutch theatre company De Appel in Den Haag and South African institutions. The piece was then first performed at the 08 Feest in Den Haag on 7 June, 2008, as one of a trilogy of short experimental plays similarly commissioned (the other two were Guests by Wannie de Wijn and Insomnia by Mike van Graan).

Performance history in South Africa
2008: The production of Power was again performed as part of a trilogy of short experimental plays (along with Guests by Wannie de Wijn and Insomnia by Mike van Graan) at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, the 969 Festival in Braamfontein and in Cape Town. The cast consisted of Bob Schwarze, Hayley Roberts and a number of students.
