The Goose with the Golden Eggs is a farce in one act by Augustus Mayhew (1826-1875) and Henry Sutherland Edwards (1828-1906).

First performed at The Strand Theatre, London, on 1 September, 1859.
Published in London by Thomas Hailes Lacy as Lacy's acting edition no 654 and by Samuel French in 1859 and in Chicago by the Dramatic Publishing Company

1862: According to Bosman, 1980, it was probably the play performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, as The Goose that laid the Golden Eggs by the Sefton Parry company on 2 April, as part of a benefit for Samuel Wolfe. It accompanied a play billed/listed(?) as The Creole, or Love Letters (Brookes).
1863: Performed as The Goose with the Golden Eggs in the newly refurbished Garrison Theatre, Cape Town, on 28 and 29 December, along with "a Grand Christmas Pantomime" called King Alfred the Great, or The Magic Banjo and the Mystic Raven.
