Biography
Born in Pietermaritzburg
Training
She has a BA (Hons) in Speech and Drama of Natal University, a diploma in Post-Graduate Practical Theatre Studies from Cardiff, Wales, and an MA in English and Modern English Theatre from the University of Wales.
Career
She has worked extensively both in South Africa and abroad. She is a member of staff at the School of Dramatic Art, University of the Witwatersrand.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
In the mid-80s her major design work has included America Hurrah, The Mikado, Three Sisters and The Island for the Wits Theatre and for the Market Theatre Company True Confusions, Custom of the Country, Born in the RSA, Flight, Driving Miss Daisy, Sarafina! and Have You Seen Zandile?. Costume and set design for The Dybbuk (1986), Costumes designs for Diesel and Dust (1990), D.E.T. Boys High, Shadowlands, Fiddler on the Roof () 2007,Soweto Story (Opperman, 2007), Race (Mamet, Grahamstown Festival, 2012).
She is a member of the Junction Avenue Theatre Company and she has been involved with productions of The Bacchae, Sophiatown and Tooth and Nail. Sarah has also worked with Pieter-Dirk Uys and Phyllis Klotz.
Author of an article called "The 'Pioneers' ", published in Middeke, Schnierer and Homann (2015).
