Die Verliefde Indringer ("The Amorous Intruder") is the title given to an Afrikaans translation from the original original Italian, English or French of a play variously ascribed to a one of three authors.
Provenance of the text
A advertising pamphlet from 1932 by Paul de Groot refers to it as an (unnamed) play by Dario Niccodemi. However, the Cape Argus refers to it as a translation of G.B. Shaw's Mrs Warren's Profession (though this seems very unlikely). Much later a list of productions by Paul de Groot published in Filma (Kultuur) (January 1946), ascribes Die Verliefde Indringer to French playwright Paul Géraldy (1885-1983)[1].
According to Binge (citing Die Burger of 18 October and 3 November, 1932) states that the name was apparently changed to Die Oorwinnaar ("The Conqueror") for the national tour featuring De Groot and Yvonne de Morlay.
See also Mrs Warren's Profession and Die Oorwinnaar.
South African performances
1932: Produced in Afrikaans as Die Verliefde Indringer by Paul de Groot in Potchefstroom.
