Up to 1967 it was the most expensive play produced by CAPAB.
Presented by KRUIK in collaboration with UTS, directed by Fred Engelen assisted by Ria Olivier. The play opened at the H.B. Thom Theatre on 26 April 1967. Fred le Roux and Johan Malherbe alternated as Louis Trigardt, Suzanne van Wyk and Gertie Smith-Visser as Martha trigardt, Johan Malherbe and Pieter Fourie as Karel Trigardt. Other cast members were Jannie Gildenhuys, Ernst Eloff, Christine Basson, Glynn Day, Willem de la Querra, Etienne Pienaar, Woutrine Theron, Johan van Jaarsveld, Antoinette Terblanche, Pieter Joubert, Nerina Ferreira, Danie Marais, Bruwer Engelbrecht, Marco van der Colff and Le Roi Steenkamp. Décor designed by Otto Shröder, costumes designed by Elaine Aucamp, music composed by Prof G. Gruber, choreography by Marina Keet. Sound operator Martin Crous, lighting by George von Möllendorf.
