Die Twee Lampe ("the two lamps") is an Afrikaans play in three acts by Uys Krige.

The original text

Based on a short story, Die Vader, by Uys Krige's mother, Sannie Uys,

First published in 1951, then by Human & Rousseau in 1975 (twice reprinted, 1977 and 1980).

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

Translated into English as The Two Lamps by Krige himself, it was first staged in Cape Town in 1962 and in 1963 received one of two Rosamund Gilder Awards for plays from the African Continent. Published (with The Big Shots) in The Two Lamps by HAUM, 1964.
