Siva Devar (1957-2003) is a composer who wrote musical scores for theatre, film and TV.

Biography

Born in India to a musical family, educated in Pietermaritzburg at Woodlands High School, then attended the University of Durban-Westville. He also had an MSc (Mathematics) from Stuttgart Hochschule, Germany.

He was married to the actress Brenda Radloff.

Training

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He wrote the music for The Love of the Nightingale, Hamlet, At the Edge, Jimbo, Ikhaya, Side by Side Masisizane, Coming Home. and a number of productions presented at the Asoka Theatre at UDW.

Perhaps one of the most enduring of his works was the theme music of the daily soap, Isidingo.
