Born Philippus du Plessis Grobler in 9 January,1919, he completed a doctorate at He was a teacher then lecturer in Afrikaans at the Natal University College.
He passed away on 11 September, 1968.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He wrote and broadcast a range of articles and reviews on Afrikaans literature over the years for journals like Standpunte, Theoria and Die Huisgenoot. Omonh them there is trenchant though negative review of the first full translation of Hamlet into Afrikaans " Hamlet in Afrikaans", Standpunte (Jaargang 2 No. 1 1945: pp. 50-59).
