Theoria
Theoria is a South African academic journal subtitled A Journal of Social and Political Theory.
Not to be confused with the Swedish philosophy journal of the same name, published since 1935.[1]
A quarterly publication, it is described as "an engaged, multidisciplinary and peer-reviewed journal of social and political theory", its purpose being to address, the challenges posed by the major social, political and economic forces that shape the contemporary world, especially but not only with regard to Africa, the global South, and their relations with the global North.
Founded in 1947, the journal publishes full and original articles , review essays and book reviews on Social and Political Theory, Literature (including drama and theatre), Philosophy and History, in English (and Afrikaans in the early years). As of 2021 it has been published as an Open Access journal by Berghahn Books.
