The text
An original Afrikaans play, based on the life of Julius Caesar, published by Nasionale Pers Boekhandel, 1961 and by Tafelberg Uitgewers in 1963. It was awarded the Eugène N. Marais Award of the SA Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns in 1963.
Performances
1965: First performed by the Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch during the Afrikaanse Toneelweek (an "Afrikaans theatre week") in the Bellville Civic Theatre in September. Directed by Fred Engelen who also played the lead role. Some of the other cast members were Charles Fryer, Piers Nicholson, Thea Kirstein, Rentia Human and Madeleine Heyns. Decor and costumes designed by Elaine Aucamp.
