On the Verge of Exploding is a British play developed in by John Wright, Paul Hunter and Hayley Carmichael.
Contents
The original text
The piece was inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel One Hundred Years of Solitude and was created by John Wright and his two former students Paul Hunter and Hayley Carmichael of Middlesex University. First produced at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1993 and was subsequently also hosted by the London International Mime Festival.
It received a nomination for the Independent Theatre Award and the three creators would later become the founders of the company Told by an Idiot.

1995: On the Verge of Exploding was performed by what was billed as the John Wright Company at the Grahamstown Festival and Upstairs at the Market, featuring with Hayley Carmichael and Paul Hunter.
