The Horse Thief is a play by Willem Steenkamp and Tony Robinson based on Steenkamp's novel. Full-length. Cast: mixed. A searing play of justice and retribution set in the starkness of Namaqualand.

1986: The South African première was presented by CAPAB in the Nico Malan Theatre opening 6 November 1986, followed by a performance in the H.B. Thom Theatre on 27 November 1986. Directed by Esther van Ryswyk, with Jannie Gildenhuys, Ivan Abrahams, Wayne Bowman and André Roothman. Designed by Peter Krummeck. Lighting by Malcolm Hurrell.
