Hansell Hewitt (1922-1989) was a scholar and lecturer of Classics, an actor and director.

He was born in Cape Town on 5 April 1922 and died in Grahamstown on 5 April 1989.

In 1955 he directed a multiracial version of The Three Wishes by James Ambrose Brown in Cape Town.
He translated Menaechmi by Plautus into English and directed a Rhodes University Drama Department production of the play in April 1969.
