There are a number of English translations under varying titles:
False shame: a comedy, in four acts, translated from the German of Kotzebue. Printed for Vernor and Hood, 31 Poultry, London in 1799.
False shame, or also False shame: or The American orphan in Germany: a comedy, in four acts, Printed in Charleston [S.C.] by W.P. Young, no 43, Broad-Street, 1800. The translation attributed to William Dunlap (1766-1839).
False delicacy: A drama in five acts. Translated from the German of Augustus Von Kotzebue, by Benjamin Thompson, Esq. Printed by Maiden, Sherbourne-Lane, for Vernor and Hood, No. 31, Poultry, 1800
Performance history in South Africa
1824: Performed in Dutch as De Verkeerde Schaamte by Tot Nut en Vermaak on 28 August in the African Theatre, with De Echtgenoot Kluizenaar (Von Kotzebue) as afterpiece.
