Biography

Daughter of Philip Bawcombe, industrial artist.

She is married to Adrian Galley.

Training

She began her studies at the University of Pretoria, transferred to University of Cape Town and graduated with a BA Performers Diploma (Bilingual) in 1983.

Career

Joined CAPAB Drama in 1984. In 1987 she moved to Johannesburg to freelance. Her activities include writing, live TV broadcasts and film.

She has appeared on stage in The Winter's Tale (UCT production, 1981), The Insect Play (1983), Getting Out (1983), The Broken Heart (mid-1980s), Exit the King (1984), Women Behind Bars (1984), I Ought to be in Pictures (1985), As You Like It (Maynardville 1985), Bremen Coffee (1985) Diplomatic Baggage (1986), Zerbinaetta in Die Jakkalsstreke van Scapino (1986), Kings of Rok (1986), The Prince and the Sphinx (1987), Measure for Measure (1987), Blithe Spirit (1989).

Awards, etc

In 1981 she won the Ruth Peffers Prize for Best Student in Dramatic Art. Fleur du Cap nomination for Best Actress in 1986 for I Ought to be in Pictures.
