Verwagtings(“Expectations”) is a play by Deidre Venter ()[].

The original text

A play about two pregnant women - one the abandoned owner of a farm, the other the household help whose husband is in prison - and takes look at womanhood and how women exist not just as women, but as individuals within their particular societies.

Performance history in South Africa

2007: First performed at the The Downstairs Theatre in the Wits Theatre Complex at 21-24 March, at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn in April and the Volksblad Kunstefees in July, directed by André Stoltz with Renate Stuurman, Deirdre Venter, Elton Landrew and Louis Make.

Venter nominated for the Slurpie-Kanna for best emerging artists for her text.
