The Phantom of the Opera

Originally a French novel, Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux (published as a serial in Le Gaulois September 1909 to January 1910; as a novel in April 1910 by Pierre Lafitte).

Numerous stage and film works have been based on it (see Wikipedia for a list of adaptations[1].

Below we list only those that have been produced in South Africa.

Performances in South Africa

2004: Opened in at the Opera House, Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town and at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria.

2011/12: Produced by Pieter Toerien and The Really Useful Group pat the Artscape Opera House, Cape Town: (22 November 2011 to 15 January 2012) and

2012: The Toerien production played at The Teatro at Montecasino: (31 January to 22 April 2012).
