He made his name as a lighting engineer in Britain and was appointed as Chief Lighting Technician at the Nico Malan Theatre Centre in 1973.

Shows include Mother Courage, A Collier's Friday Night, Love's the Best Doctor (1977), Fiddler on the Roof, Snoopy!!! (PACT, PACOFS, CAPAB, 1985), The Miracle Worker, Die Nag van Legio, Richard III, Arcadia, Death of a Salesman, Die Ryk Weduwee, Wuthering Heights, Kinkels innie Kabel, Mame, Broken Glass, London Assurance, First Monday in October, The Madness of George III.
