The Imperial Nightingale is a play by Nicholas Stuart Grey (1922 – 1981)[]

The original text

Adapted from The Nightingale, a story by Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875)[1], it tells of the tyrannical Emperor who is under threat from the treacherous warlord, Red Dragon. When the Nightingale appears with its beautiful and enchanting voice, the Emperor is converted from the forces of evil and evades the threat of the Red Dragon’s wrath.
