The Good and the Bad is a one-act play by Philip Johnson (1900-1984)[1].

The original text

A maritime play, it was published in Johnson's collection Four plays: Long shadows; the cage; The lovely miracle; The good and the bad; by E. Benn, London, 1929.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans as Die Goeie en die Slegte by Truida Pohl for K.A.T. in 1941.

Translated into Afrikaans and adapted for radio by Marie van der Merwe as Die Goeie en die Slegte in 1965.

Performance history in South Africa

1941: Performed by K.A.T. in June, directed by Truida Pohl.

1965: Broadcast in the programme Kleinteater by the Afrikaans Service of the SABC on 16 February, 1965.
