The original text
The play addresses one of the most frightening dangers of our time: the pace of modern life shows one of the most frightening dangers of our time: the pace of modern life prevents people from being human. prevents people from being human.
First broadcast by Süddeutscher Rundfunk on 21 February, 1954, directed by Otto Kurthr and by RWR-W ("Rot-Weiß-Rot")[1] in Austria on 10 May, 1954, directed by Walter Davy.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Afrikaans as Jammer ek is besig ("Sorry, I am busy") by Jan Schutte. A copy of the typed SABC performance text was found in the Drama Department archive, University of Stellenbosch in 2022.Now held in the ESAT repository at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Broadcast history in South Africa
1961: Broadcast nationally on 17 November by the SABC Afrikaans service, directed by Jan Schutte.
