Seymour Hicks (1871-1949) [1]. British writer, actor and director.

Biography

Wrote the book for a number of musical comedies and farces, including A Runaway Girl, The Earl and the Girl, often performing in them.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He wrote Bluebell in Fairyland (with Walter Slaughter) which was performed several times in South Africa between 1902-1908.

His company presented Scrooge on tour in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 1911.

He appeared in Vintage Wine in Johannesburg in 1935. Moira Lister had a role in that production as a child actress.
