Sanlam is a South African financial services group.

About the company

The company is headquartered in Bellville, just outside Cape Town. Sanlam is one of the largest insurance companies in South Africa. It is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Namibian Stock Exchange and the A2X. Established in 1918 as a life insurance company,[5] Sanlam Group has developed into a diversified financial services business. Its five business clusters comprise Sanlam Personal Finance, SanlamAllianz, Sanlam Investments, Sanlam Corporate and Santam

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In 1969, South African financial services group Sanlam bought 20th Century Fox's South African film business, renaming it Kinekor. At that point, Sanlam already owned Ster Films and Ster Theatres. The government permitted Sanlam to merge three three companies - Ster Films, Ster Theatres and Kinekor - which they subsequently did as Ster-Kinekor in 1970.
