Training
He graduated with a Performers Diploma from Technikon Natal.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
As singer
He has sung in many prestigious events such as Last Night of the Proms, the opening of the Table Bay Hotel, the Launch of the Arts and Culture Trust for the President, Africa Peace Awards, the 50th birthday of King Goodwill Zwelithini, the 1995 Miss South Africa Beauty Pageant and the Opening of the Durban ICC.
As producer
In 1995, he was appointed deputy CEO of Opera Africa.
He produced Ubuntu – The Opera (2015).
He is the Founder, Managing and Artistic Director of Bravo Africa Entertainment.
As actor
He appeared in Tooth and Nail (1991), The Magic Flute (Opera Africa, 1995).
In 1992 Raphael was appointed by PACT Opera Company as a soloist at the State Theatre, Pretoria . Some of Raphael‘s opera repertoire include the following roles; Lawyer in Gianni Schicchi, Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Escamillo in Carmen and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.
Awards
Standard Bank Young Artist Awards winner (1992). In 1996 he was awarded the Vita Award for the most outstanding performance by a male singer in a leading role as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.
