Phoenix Theatre was a theatre venue in Link Street, Camps Bay.

History

Formerly the Alvin Cinema. After a fire destroyed their original venue (the Camps Bay Pavilion) in 1973, the Camps Bay Operatic and Dramatic Society took over and converted the Alvin Cinema. They called their new venue the Phoenix Theatre.

By 1987 the society had run into difficulties and put the venue up for sale. The venue was bought by Pieter Toerien in 1987 and redeveloped as the Theatre on the Bay.

For more information, see Camps Bay Operatic and Dramatic Society and Theatre on the Bay.
