Philip Grout. (1930-) British director.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He directed Abelard and Heloise, 1971, Frederick Knott’s Dial M for Murder, starring John Gregson and Joan Fontaine in 1972. It was presented by Pieter Toerien. He also directed A Touch of Spring starring Leonard Whiting for Pieter Toerien at the Civic Theatre in 1972, Crown Matrimonial 1973, Otherwise Engaged 1976, Twelfth Night (NAPAC 1978), The Merchant of Venice (NAPAC 1979). In 1981 he directed Kom terug, Klein Sheba and Macbeth, both in the Nico Malan Theatre. He directed The Taming of the Shrew for NAPAC in 1981, A Midsummer Night's Dream (NAPAC 1980 and Maynardville 1981).
