The story centers on a miner and his daughter and follows the lives and loves of the people in a mining camp in Gold Rush-era California.
Translations and adaptations
A film version was made in 1969 starring Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, and Jean Seberg. The film was adapted by Paddy Chayefsky from the 1951 musical.
