Nederburg Opera Prize

The Nederburg Opera Prize was instituted by the Stellenbosch Boere Wynmakery (Stellenbosch Farmers' Winery) in 1972 and presented in each of the (then) four provinces.

The Cape Nederburg Opera Prize

1972: Angelo Gobbato was the first recipient of the award.

1973: Nellie du Toit for Madama Butterfly (CAPAB). The other female contestants were Evelyn Dalberg, Sarita Stern and Aviva Pelham.

The Nederburg Opera Prize for the Orange Free State

1973: First awarded. The three finalists were Chris van den Berg, Hans van Heerden and Nellie du Toit.

1975: Nellie du Toit for Tosca (PACOFS).

The Transvaal Nederburg Opera Prize

Leo Quayle and Lawrence Folley were previous recipients.

1975: Nellie du Toit for Lucia di Lammermoor (PACT) in March 1974.
