Mfana Jones Hlope

Mfana Jones Hlope (1971-) is a South African actor, singer and dancer. ("Hlope" sometimes written "Hlophe", and the full names also given as Jones Mfana Hlope on occasion.)

Biography

Born on 14 September, 1971. In 1988 he joined Committed Artists (Mbongeni Ngema's Township Fever). He trained at the Mbongeni Ngema Drama Group, in 1993 joined Gibson Kente's School of Arts.

1994 joined Sikulu led by Sam Mahangwane/Euro Stage directed by Peter Ultee as the lead actor.

1995 joined African Research & Educational Puppetry Programme (AREPP).

1996 joined Ipi-Ntombi as the lead actor till 1998 directed by Bertha Egnos.


Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

1999 played a role production called Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Five Guys Named Moe (1999), Milestones (1999), 2000 played lead in Gumboots at The Market Theatre directed by Wayne Harrison & Zenzi Mbuli, Woza Albert! (Market Theatre and British tour, 2001 and 2002, directed by Sello Maake-ka Ncube), The Necklace (Directed by Fiona Ramsay, 2004).

Student Film projects:

2009 played a lead in “Secret Lovers” (directed by Vusi Twala) 2010 played Mfundisi in Skyf the Film (directed by Thapelo Mokoena) 2011 playing Katlego Gumede (call actor) Zone14

His Television roles include:

1995 Supporting role in Khululeka (directed by Vusi Dibakwane) 1996 The lead in Mama's Love (Directed by Gibson Kente) 1997 The lead in Teens on a Tight Rope (Directed by Vusi Dibakwane) 2006-2008 played "Jabu" in Soul City.
